Super powers, even though they don’t exist in reality, humans think about having them all the time whether it’s children playing around or adults joking how it would make their lives easier. To fuel this imagination and allow an escape of reality we’ve created people called Superheros.
Superheros can range between having god-like abilities to being a regular person with a lot of money(Batman). But not all people with super powers become heroes or villains. Sometimes it is just a normal part of life.
Listed below are several popular action-based super power tv shows. The episodes of all shows are a normal length of 20-30 minutes.
One Punch Man
Two Seasons: 24 episodes total + eight episode specials and one additional movie.
Saitama, a hero for fun, accidentally becomes too strong and ends up defeating all of his foes with one punch. This comedic-action show follows him and a 19 year old human robot, Genos, who has proclaimed that Saitama is to become his master and teach him to become stronger. Although Saitama was against it, a promise forces him to accept this boy as his disciple. These two solve the world’s problems with Saitama always falling in the shadows even though he should be the spotlight.
My Hero Academia
Four Seasons: 81 episodes (ongoing) + two episode specials and two movies
In this world eighty percent of the population has a special ability or “quirk” because of this the rise in heroes has become an official profession and is pursued by many across the world. Mydoria was born quirkless but with the help of the number one hero he was able to gain a quirk and become accepted into the number one hero school, UA High. This show is the path to his journey of becoming the number one hero.
K-Project
Two Seasons: 26 episodes + seven movies
The world is overrun by clans, these clans are led by “kings” who are granted supernatural powers. Each clan is given a color: silver, gold, red, blue, green, grey, and colorless. When a red clan member is murdered and broadcasted, an innocent-looking student, Yashiro, is the accused. As the fight for his life goes on clouds start to clear and his very existence is questioned. This puts the entire world at risk and could end up in a full-on war.
Bleach
16 seasons: 366 episodes + four movies
One of the longer shows that consist of “specials” but are intertwined within the show instead of separate like the previous shows listed.
Starting off, Ichigo Kurosaki is a regular high school student who can see spirits. He goes through his usual school and social life, but will assist with helping spirits to aid in a piece of mind to cross over. When his family is suddenly attacked by a hollow, a terrorizing lost spirit, he helps a soul reaper defeat the monster but only by becoming a soul reaper himself. He then uses his newfound powers to keep the peace between the spirit world and human world.
There are so many more anime that crosses the super power line, but for some like Bleach which also walks the line of Supernatural superpowers. Just like any other movie or tv show, there are multiple genres and subgenres to describe it in full. It’s just a big game of mix and match with your own personal interests.
